The
Steelhead 100 supports up to about 5 people while the Steelhead
200 supports up to about 20 people. About the size of a DSL modem,
they can run on a desktop rather than a dedicated server room,
and they offer all the key optimization technologies for significant
bandwidth reduction and application acceleration.
For future growth, the Steelhead 100 is software-upgradeable to
the model 300.

These models are 1U rack-mountable and offer optional multi-port Ethernet cards for integration into multi-link or redundant WAN links. The Steelhead 520 is software-upgradeable to the1020.

For larger corporate offices or data centres, the largest Steelhead models provide greater capacity and redundancy.
Optional multi-port Ethernet cards enable integration into multi-link or redundant WAN configurations. Clustering with the Interceptor appliance provides additional failover or scaling in very large deployments. With a 3U rack-mountable form factor, these devices contain RAID, triple power supplies, and hot-swappable disk to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.

Riverbed Interceptor is the ideal solution for the largest enterprise networks. With support for up to 4 Gbps of optimized WAN traffic and up to 1,000,000 simultaneous TCP connections, theInterceptor allows real-time cluster management and the addition, modification, or removal of Steelhead appliances in a connection distribution group.
Interceptor appliances can be configured for failover mode to provide continued operations in the event of a hardware failure.
The Interceptor is deployed in-line behind a WAN router at the data centre, from where it distributes TCP connections evenly across a stack of local Steelhead appliances.
