Steelhead Mobile software enables mobile workers to enjoy LAN-like access
to files and applications regardless of whether they are working from
home or remotely.
Riverbed's Steelhead Mobile lets you provide your mobile workers with LAN-like access to corporate files and applications no matter where they are, anywhere in the world, and installation of the software on users' laptops or desktop PCs is transparent.
Steelhead Mobile works by interacting directly with any Steelhead appliance
to optimize applications the same way in which two Steelhead devices
would work together. At least one Steelhead Mobile Controller is required
to manage Steelhead Mobile licensing.

Steelhead Mobile Controller (SMC)
The SMC manages Steelhead Mobile licenses and controls the deployment, management, and reporting of Steelhead Mobile software clients. Using the SMC, you can quickly and easily deploy Steelhead Mobile to all your remote workers and employees on the go.
The SMC is a 1U rackable appliance that manages Steelhead Mobile deployments, controls optimization policy, provides user-level reporting, and enables administrative troubleshooting.

Steelhead Mobile 3.0 introduces enhancements that allow organizations to provide their mobile workers with better access and performance regardless of location. Whether in the office or on the road, improved integration with the Steelhead appliance allows workers to bring even more of the benefits of the Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS) with them wherever they go. Speed is no longer a barrier to mobility with new protocol optimizations, expanded platform and operating system support, and client developments that improve the performance of the entire Riverbed Technology deployment. Steelhead Mobile 3.0 gives IT managers the opportunity to simplify their network infrastructure by offering a single solution to the problems that plague performance.
Web Applications - up to 20X to 60X faster
In addition to standard data streamlining and transport streamlining functionality, Steelhead Mobile 3.0, provides the same layer 7 optimizations for HTTP and HTTPS as the Steelhead appliance, giving organizations a single complete solution to make their key web-based applications faster than ever before. By employing URL learning, page parsing, embedded object pre-fetching, and metadata acceleration modes Steelhead Mobile further reduces the chattiness and delay often associated with enterprise Web-based applications. With these additional tools, applications such as SharePoint, intranet portals, web-based document management systems, as well as web-enabled ERP and CRM applications like SAP NetWeaver, JD Edwards, and Siebel, all receive application acceleration of up to 60x.
Branch Warming - Warm acceleration regardless of location
Branch Warming allows mobile and branch office users to share optimized data and experience even greater overall acceleration. By sharing the data references between the data stores of the Steelhead Mobile client and the branch office Steelhead appliance, mobile workers not only take advantage of all of the optimization benefits of the Steelhead appliance but also are able to help accelerate the entire organization. The result is "warm" performance regardless of location.
Acceleration for Windows 7 and 64-bit Systems
With Steelhead Mobile 3.0, organizations have the ability to support Microsoft's entire catalog of modern operating systems and next generation platforms. A new Microsoft signed filter driver brings all of the benefits of Steelhead Mobile to Windows 7 and 64-bit systems. Companies have the flexibility to upgrade operating systems or migrate to platforms to take advantage to improve performance of memory and data intensive applications that require 64-bit systems.
